The Helm

The SCA is a Medieval and Rennaissance "recreation" society. I much prefer calling it an educational study that focuses on Pre-17th Century Europe, and the cultures in contact with Europe.

Those of us in the SCA tend to like studying and researching various things about the world before the 17th century, when I joined I was told that if it was done then, it is more than likely done in Society. Which appears to be true.


The SCA is however an odd mix of modern and old. In this picture for example, You see a soft cooler in the back ground, and tape on an Anglo Saxon Helm, off to the side you can barely see Mistress Anne's hands doing a very old scandinavian fiber art. Tis quite odd.

This helm was made by one of the Gentleman in Winters Gate, and is used by him.
